Seminar with Robert Nadeau Shihan & Mary Heiny Sensei

Friday-Sunday - December 6-8, 2013

Aikido of San Diego and Jiai Aikido in a co-sponsored seminar event welcome Robert Nadeau Shihan, and Mary Heiny Sensei. Come train with these two amazing instructors and long-time friends, teaching together for the first time in southern California this December.

On Friday evening Nadeau Shihan and Heiny Sensei will begin by co-instructing some active work on the mat. Then we will circle up for a discussion of O Sensei's process and the meaning of Aikido in our daily lives. On Saturday we will learn to access new and finer levels of ourselves, using Aikido technique to support explorations into who we are and how we express ourselves in the world. Sunday's session will bring it all together, and we will look at how to continue our work and growth as we continue our training in the months and years beyond this weekend.

The seminar is co-hosted by Aikido of San Diego and Jiai Aikido. Students of all affiliations are welcome. This seminar is appropriate for aikidoka of all ranks who can roll and fall safely. There is no need to bring weapons.

Robert Nadeau Shihan

Robert Nadeau, Shihan, is a key figure in the growth and development of Aikido in America. He has trained or influenced several generations of Aikido teachers in America, Europe, Russia, Israel and New Zealand. His approach to martial arts training transcends technique to give students something applicable to daily life and to aid in self-transformation.

He traveled to Japan to study as a personal student of Aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba. Nadeau Shihan has brought Aikido concepts into the fields of psychology, bodywork, business, sports, art and many other areas. This included numerous seminars at the Esalen Institute and other personal growth centers across the country and abroad. His work is featured in more than a dozen books by well-known authors.

Mary Heiny Sensei

For more than forty years, Mary Heiny Sensei has followed a path of physical and spiritual inspiration as a student and teacher of Aikido. Heiny brings to every class, workshop, and seminar she teaches not only her years of aikido training and teaching, but also her extensive experience and study of Japanese culture, language, Shinto and Buddhist philosophies, and Non-Violent Communication.

She strives always to communicate the beauty and challenge of O Sensei's desire that we use Aikido to become empowered as creative, compassionate beings and learn to appreciate each other as members of one human family.
